PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable battery with an excellent cycle characteristic by adding at least one substance among halogen, sulfur dioxide, an organic base, and alcohol organic halide in a non-aqueous electrolyte. SOLUTION: In a lithium secondary battery using a non-aqueous electrolyte including a lithium compound as an electrolyte, a solution dissolving iodine, bromide, sulfur dioxide, pyridine or its derivative, or methanol or propylene glycol in chloroform is added to the non-aqueous electrolyte. When a lithium compound, that is, lithium phosphate hexafluoride is used in this battery, an electrolyte degradation suppressing effect can be remarkably exhibited, and a cycle characteristic can be desirably maintained. When lithium manganate spinel is used as a positive electrode material, internal resistance of a battery is lowered, and consequently, the cycle characteristic can be improved as a result of a synergistic effect with the non-aqueous electrolyte degradation suppressing effect. This lithium secondary battery is suitably used for a large- size battery with a battery capacity of 2 Ah or more. |
