PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image fixing device that is compact and excellent in fixing property of the image on a recording medium, without causing an offset, by forming a potential difference across the recording medium between the contact member surface and the pressure member surface, and fixing coloring particles on the recording medium. SOLUTION: When a bias voltage is applied to a fixing roller 2 in ceramic coating is applied on the surface thereof, the surface potential on the fixing roller 2 becomes higher than the surface potential of the pressure roller 8, and an electric field is formed between both rollers. The toner image 10 on a recording sheet P transported into a nip part between both rollers, the toner carrying the positive static charge is aggregated on a recording sheet and stuck thereon. Accompanying this adherence, a major part of carriers rises to forme the carriers layer, and a part is simultaneously absorbed in the recording sheet. Subsequently, being pressurized in the nip center, and the toner image is fixed on the recording sheet.
