PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pulse power supply for reducing switching loss of a semiconductor switch and a power loss, while the influence of a saturable reactor or a saturable transformer on a voltage time product is eliminated. SOLUTION: A saturable reactor SI2 is provided between a capacitor C0 and a semiconductor switch SW. With respect to turn-on of a semiconductor switch SW, the saturation reactor SI2 is operated in a saturated state immediately prior to the operation of the saturaiton of a saturation reactor SI0 is carried out. Then, surging is prevented by supplying a small current for holding the on-state of the semiconductor switch SW. A circuit constitution, in which a current which becomes much smaller than the current from the saturation reactor SI0 to the semiconductor SW is carried in a winding structure, and a circuital constitution, in which a reactor LS or a capacitor is provided in series with the saturation reactor SI2, are also included.
