PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user to designate the order of output of received documents stored in a memory by selecting and using a parameter for controlling the order of output from plural parameters. SOLUTION: At recording of received image data, image data stored in a storage memory 104 are read, and extended again by a compressing/extending part 107, and the extended data are recorded by a printer 116. Then, an optimal cassette is selected according to the priority order of the cassette selection of a device from the image width or length information of the received image prior to the recording of the image data. Also, a setting related with a receiving function is displayed at a display part 105 by the operation of an operating part 114, and the setting can be changed by a user. Moreover, the priority order of the recording of the received documents is set by the operating part 114. For example, the order of 'communication management numbers', 'the number of received pages', and 'the origin of calling numbers' can be selected, and the priority order is registered by an operator with ten keys.
