PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of detecting the surface temperature of a fixing rotating body with good responsiveness by using a non-contact type surface temperature detection means, discriminating the kind of recording material, especially, the thickness of the recording material passing through the fixing rotating body based on the change of the detected temperature, consequently, changing the postprocessing performed to the recording material which has passed through the fixing rotating body in accordance with the discriminated result, and setting the appropriate surface temperature of the fixing rotating body in accordance with the kind of the recording material, especially, thickness thereof. SOLUTION: This device is provided with the non-contact type surface temperature detection means 5 provided in a non-contact state with the surface of the fixing rotating body 2 in order to detect the surface temperature of the rotating body 2, a recording material kind discriminating means discriminating the kind of the recording material P served to form an image based on the surface temperature information on the rotating body 2 detected by using the detection means 5, and a postprocessing control means controlling the setting of postprocessing performed to the recording material P which has passed through the rotating body 2 based on the kind discriminated result of the recording material P by the recording material kind discriminating means. |
