摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the driving method and device of a multi-level display plasma display which is capable of obtaining the number of gradations and luminance when a normal vertical frequency is inputted and also is capable of coping with a nonstandard signal whose vertical frequency is higher than the normal vertical frequency in a plasma display having a high resolution. SOLUTION: In the driving method of a multi-level display plasma display in which a field is constituted of plural subfields and which performs multi-level display, when a vertical frequency to be inputted from the outside became higher than a stipulated frequency, this method drives the plasma display device by changing over driving sequences of a field to shorter sequences. As a result, in the plasma display having the high resolution, when the normal vertical frequency is inputted to the display, the number of gradations and the luminance are obtained and it is made possible to cope with even the nonstandard signal whose vertical frequency is higher than the normal vertical frequency.
