PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance carrying by configuring the MODEM with a wireless transmission reception section that sends/receives data through infrared ray transmission or radio communication, a microphone section, a signal conversion section, a signal processing section, and a data signal transmission reception section so as to decrease the number of connection cables. SOLUTION: A user uses a telephone set 110, makes dialing to execute telephone connection to another party, and receives an output of data from the opposite party through a telephone receiver speaker 113 of a telephone receiver 111. A microphone section 101 picks up the output data, gives the data to a signal conversion section, where the data are converted into a digital signal. The converted digital signal is fed to a signal processing section, and when a signal control means discriminates the necessity of the data, the converted digital signal is fed to a wireless transmission/reception section, which transmits the digital signal to a host computer 130. The computer 130 is equipped with a wireless transmitter-receiver 131 in compliance with a protocol used for the transmission/reception to receive the transmitted data, and the wireless transmitter-receiver 131 transmits the data with the protocol used for the transmission/reception.
