Keeping insulating system of hermetic transformers dry uses a hygroscopic non-ionogenic polymeric material that is in constant contact with the insulating liquid of the transformer to create a moist undersaturated gradient from the polymeric material to the insulating liquid. The material consists of very dry hygroscopic plastic free from ionogenic material without an insulating function.
