<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new polyol useful as an agent for the treatment of gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, or the like, having low side actions and excellent anti- Helicobacter pyrori activity, gastric mucosa adhesivity, drug effect persistency and safety. SOLUTION: The objective polyol is expressed by formula I [X is L-serine residue, L-asparagin residue or (S)-2-aminobutyric acid residue; Y is anα-L- amino acid residue], e.g. (S)-3-[(2S,3R,4R,5S)-5-(L-norvalyl-(S)-2-aminobutyryl) amino-2,3,4,6-tetrahydroxyhexanoyl]amino-3-phenylpropionic acid (salt). The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting a compound of formula II (R1 to R4 are each H or an OH-protecting group; R5 is H or a carboxyl- protecting group) with a compound of formula III [X' is a (protected)L-serine residue, or the like; Y' is a (protected)α-L-amino acid residue] and optionally deprotecting the reaction product.</p> |
