AQUEOUS INK

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aqueous ink for actualizing the demand of a record having higher image quality, to be concrete, an aqueous ink having a high printing concentration. SOLUTION: This aqueous ink uses a surface modified carbon black dispersible and/or soluble in water without a dispersant as a colorant. The surface modified carbon black has 50% accumulated diameter of >=60 nm and 90% accumulated diameter of <=300 nm and is obtained by wet oxidation using a hypohalous acid or a hypohalite.
