PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately calibrate a printer. SOLUTION: A gray patch of a test print is separated to three colors and subjected to photometry by a densitometer 35. A magenta density, a yellow density and a cyan density are stored in a density data memory 32c. A correction energy amount for magenta is obtained by a calibration-operating processing part 38 on the basis of a difference between the magenta density and a target density. A density change of the other yellow and cyan when the correction energy amount is used is estimated. A correction energy amount for restricting the estimated density change is obtained for each color. Similarly, the correction energy amount for each of yellow and cyan is obtained from a difference of an estimated density and a target density and, the estimated density of the other colors at this time is obtained. The correction energy amount which reduces the difference of the photometric density or estimated density and the target density is obtained by repeating the processes. In comparison with the case where the density of a single color print is used, the calibration result is obtained more accurately. |
