PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discriminate conveyance abnormality with high accuracy by recognizing the conveyance abnormality of a cut sheet immediately before the next process, and detecting the presence of the cut sheet positively even if a binding hole is formed in the periphery of the cut sheet. SOLUTION: Discrimination is made, provided that trailing (rear end of the cut sheet) is used as an essential condition because a cut-sheet sensor unit 166 is disposed just before a transfer part 164. As a result, the determination of oblique moving is possible even if the front end of the cut sheet 128 reaches to the transfer part 164 and the transfer of an image has already started. It is thus possible to detect the oblique moving which may occur at the time of image transfer at the transfer part 164 and eliminate conveyance abnormality by means of a logical sum of a pair of sensors arranged in a conveying direction even if a binding hole 128A is present.
