PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an unleaded gasoline which does not pollute the environment and improves the drivability of an automobile by specifying the distillation characteristics, benzene content, and research octane number. SOLUTION: This unleaded gasoline contains 5.0 vol.% (hereafter referred to %) fraction having a b.p. range of 80-100 deg.C and has a temperature for 50 vol.% recovered at 100 deg.C or lower, a benzene content of 1.0 vol.% or lower and a research octane number of 89.0 or higher. This gasoline contributes to the improvement in environment since it is inhibited from emitting benzene, harmful to human bodies; and it is practically useful since it can maintain the low-temperature startability and drivability of an automobile. This gasoline is produced e.g. by compounding 30-75 vol.% catalytically reformed low-benzene gasoline, 2-40 vol.% light naphtha, 0-5 vol.% heavy naphtha, 2-40 vol.% catalytically cracked gasoline and 0-20 vol.% alkylate gasoline. If necessary, the gasoline may further contain a base material such as a polymer gasoline obtained by olefin polymerization, isopentane or n-pentane.
