PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a floating type water intake device capable of maintaining a constant level of water in a pond to which water is discharged, preventing sludge at the bottom of the pond from being mixed with intake water and selectively taking water from a layer having a temperature suitable for the ecosystem of the pond to which water is discharged and discharging the water into the pond. SOLUTION: This water intake device comprises a main body part 14 having a float 12 for floating on water surface and a water intake unit 16 installed under the main body part 14, taking water near the main body part, and connected to a discharge pipe to discharge the intake water. The intake unit 16 is connected to the main body part 14. The device is also provided with a lifting mechanism 18 for lifting the water intake unit 16 relative to the main body part 14.
