PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sizing agent composition which gives a proper stiffness property and a good touch and is not strongly adhered to the automatic sizing agent-charging port of a fully automatic electric washing machine. SOLUTION: This sizing agent composition comprises at least water and a polymer having the following characteristics. The characteristics of the polymer are (a) >=90%, and (b)/(a)<=0.7, wherein (a) is the transmittance of an aqueous solution containing 5 wt.% of the polymer and 10 wt.% of a non-polymeric electrolyte at 25 deg.C, and (b) is the transmittance of an aqueous solution produced by diluting the above aqueous solution with 50 fold-volume of water, at 25 deg.C.
