METHOD FOR TRANSMITTING CAPTION DATA OF CAPTION BROADCASTING SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A method for transmitting caption data of a caption broadcasting system is provided to increase the effectiveness of a pull down caption and to slow down the scroll down operation for increased readability. CONSTITUTION: A method for transmitting caption data of a caption broadcasting system includes following steps. At the first step, a caption signal as well as a text information signal are added on an audio and image signals and the caption signal as well as the text information signal are extracted from the received signals. At the second step, a pull down caption command of first line, second line, or third line is transmitted, and a control code specifying the position and the attribute of the caption display is transmitted. At the third step, data is transmitted in an order in which a text code stream is transmitted after a new-line control code. At the forth step, the third step is repeated for a predetermined number of times and the whole step is repeated from the second step.
