PURPOSE: A method for detecting voice interval using a transmission rate is provided to detect voice interval using a variable transmission rate based on the amount of voice. CONSTITUTION: A method for detecting voice interval using a transmission rate includes following steps. At the first step(209), a position at which a transmission rate of a voice information frame transmitted at a variable transmission rate is bigger than a first predetermined value is detected as a beginning point of the voice interval. At the second step(220), a position at which a transmission rate of a voice information frame transmitted at a variable transmission rate is smaller than a second predetermined value is detected as an ending point of the voice interval. The first step further includes following steps. At the third step, the time at which the transmission rate of a voice information frame transmitted at a variable transmission rate is bigger than a first predetermined value is detected. At the forth step, the time at which the transmission rate of a voice information frame transmitted at a variable transmission rate is smaller than a second predetermined value is detected.
