The fitting is able to accommodate excess cable length within the fitting. The fluorescent light fitting includes a connecting cable (C) which is stripped of insulation for part of its length, and provided with a cable grip/stop (A) at the limit of the stripped section. A cable clamp (S) is provided on the outside of the fitting , and the cable is retained within the fitting by a spring (R). A cover protects the ballast circuit. It is possible to adjust the length of external cable (C) by releasing the clamp (S) and accommodating extra cable within the fitting. The insertion of the cable is assisted by the action of the spring (R), which also ensures that the cable is under tension. The cable has a plug fitting on its external end.
