PURPOSE: A recombinant expression vector of plant comprising cDNA of antibacterial peptide (Pn-AMP) derived from Pharbitis nil L. is provided which has an excellent antibacterial activity to various bacteria and fungi, and thereby which is able to readily prepare a transgenic plant having a resistance to the fungi. CONSTITUTION: A Pharbitis nil L.-derived antibacterial peptide Pn-AMP is purified from the mature seed of Pharbitis nil L. and has an amino acid sequence: QQCG-x-QA-y-GRLCGNGLCCSQWGYCGSTAAYCGAGCQSQCK-z wherein, x is S or R; y is R or S; and z is S or absent. A peptide designated as 'Pn-AMP1' consists of a total of 41 amino acids and has Ser¬5, Arg¬8 and Ser¬41, the other peptide designated as 'Pn-AMP2' consists of a total of 40 amino acids and has Arg¬5 and Ser¬8.
