PURPOSE: A fast access method of a CD(Compact Disk) is provided to shorten standby time of detection required for moving between far tracks. CONSTITUTION: A microcomputer moves an optical pickup to a track having required data when a user inputs a command to play back specific data. The microcomputer starts to play back the data at constant linear velocity by rotating a CD at corresponding velocity. The microcomputer checks the position of the optical pickup and the predetermined area depending on a distance from the center of the CD. The microcomputer decides the predetermined area as the extreme inside, the middle area or the extreme outside depending on whether absolute time data are within 15min, between 15-35min or over 35min. The microcomputer decides the current position of the optical pickup from the absolute time data and controls the current rotational velocity of the CD within an allowable error range forcibly. Therefore, the microcomputer plays back the desired data within a short time by reducing time required to control velocity within the allowable error range.
