PURPOSE: A method for defrosting of a refrigerator is provided to perform the defrosting operation at an appropriate point, reduce the consumption power of the refrigerator, and preserve food at a fresh state by equally maintaining the temperature. CONSTITUTION: A method for defrosting of a refrigerator applied to the operating status of the refrigerator divided into driving operation of a compressor for refrigerating and freezing and defrosting operation for removing frost of an evaporator, includes the steps of performing a first defrosting operation cycle when the driving operation and the defrosting operation are progressed in turns by the driving addition time(Tc1) of the compressor initially set, and comparing the defrosting time(Td1) produced in the former step with the previously set value(Tmax, Tmin) in the system and determining the driving addition time(Tc1) of a second defrosting operation cycle by changing the driving addition time(Tc1) according to the result.
