PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately correct meandering of an intermediate transfer belt corresponding to the change of a belt edge shape without interrupting the normal image forming operation. SOLUTION: A steering control system of the image forming device correcting the meandering of the intermediate transfer belt 1 compares detection data E(r, n) of the belt edge position obtained through an edge sensor 13 with the edge shape data P(r, n) stored in a memory part 28, determines the position fluctuation quantity W(r, n) in the width direction of the intermediate transfer belt 1 based on the above comparison result, and drives the steering motor 20. The image forming device is provided with a compensating device 24 to compensate the signal with regard to the above position fluctuation quantity W(r, n) by a gain below 1, at the same time, outputting the quantity W as correction signal in accordance with the steering quantity S(r, n), and the changing part 31 to change edge shape data stored in the storing part 28 by using the latest information of the detection data E(r, n) obtained through the edge sensor 13. |
