<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten waiting time related to first memory reference to a element of a data structure by prefetching elements, which are to be used by a processor before needed, among the elements of the data structure. SOLUTION: When there is no data structure requested by a processor 42 in a cache, a cache memory 41 generates a reference to a main memory 43 for providing that data structure. Besides, a prefetch unit 20 generates the reference to the main memory 43 as well and while sharing a route between the main memory 43 and the cache memory 41/prefetch memory, the processor 42 prefetches elements, which are to be used before needed, among the elements of the respectively data structures. Thus, waiting time related to the first memory reference to the element of the data structure can be shortened.</p> |
