PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device capable of improving greatly a static charge preventing function, and capable of a clear image display. SOLUTION: This electron beam device having an electron source (cold cathode element 14 or the like), a first member (face plate 19 or the like) facing the electron source, and a second member (spacer 22 or the like) installed between the first member and the electron source, has such a characteristic as to have surface roughness (minute surface irregularity structure 23a of the spacer 22 or the like) shown by the relation, 0.05 micron<=Ra<=0.25 micron, on the surface of the second member.
