PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To always realize accurate photometry in an optimum area where parallax is not found in accordance with the distance or the position of a subject by switching the pixel area of a sensor for automatic focusing used for the photometry in accordance with output from a subject distance detection means. SOLUTION: This camera is equipped with the subject distance detection means detecting subject distance information based on output from a sensor for AF in an automatic focusing(AF) unit 12, so that a photometric pixel area used for the photometry is switched in accordance with output from a subject state detection means. Namely, a control circuit 11 calculates reference luminance BV by properly switching the used pixel areas (j) and N of the AF sensor so as to use the values of the used pixel areas (j) and N of the AF sensor previously stored corresponding to the subject distance information as a table system in an EEPROM 14 (or ROM in the circuit 11) in accordance with the subject distance information at that time which is stored in a RAM in the circuit 11. Thus, the appropriate photometric value without the parallax is obtained. |
