PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the taking of optical fibers out of the intermediate part of an optical fiber cable and to make a stage for forming an intermediate branching part easier and faster. SOLUTION: The optical fiber cable inserted with plural wire-shaped protective members 3a each having an arcuate cross-sectional surface between the inner wall of a cylindrical wire-shaped body 5 and the coated optical fiber or coated optical fiber ribbons 1 is formed as the optical fiber cable constituted by housing the coated optical fibers or coated optical fiber ribbons 1 into the cylindrical wire-shaped body 5 consisting of plastic material. The optical fibers are protected by inserting the wire-shaped protective members each having the arcuate cross-sectional surface between the inner wall of the cylindrical wire-shaped body constituting the protective sheath layer of the optical fiber cable and the coated optical fibers or coated optical fiber ribbons and, therefore, there is no possibility that the optical fibers are damaged by a cutter, etc., when the optical fibers are taken out by cutting and tearing the outer wall of the cylindrical wire-shaped body in order to form the intermediate branching part.
