PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce energy consumed for causing each motor to function or not to function as a generator, when driving by the motor is not required, in a car driven by a prime mover which drives at least one of its drive wheels, and motors which drive the other drive wheels. SOLUTION: To a front wheel motor 14, which drives the front wheels of a vehicle and a rear wheel motor 22 which drives the rear wheels, power is supplied from a battery 30 via inverters 32, 34 respectively. The rear wheel motor 22 is controlled, when driving force is lacking through drive by a front wheel prime mover, or the coefficient of friction of a load surface is low. At times other than those, a relay 36 is opened, and the rear wheel motor 22 is prevented form being a generator. A first capacitor 38 for supplying and absorbing a ripple current is arranged on the side of the rear wheel motor 22 of the relay 36, and a second capacitor 40 for smoothing the power voltage is arranged on the side of the battery 30. |
