PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the power efficiency of a lamp by arranging prism sheets which have many microprisms arrayed between a light source and a liquid crystal panel and projecting video on a screen by an erect image forming means. SOLUTION: The prism sheets 14a and 14b which have many microprisms arrayed are arranged between a light source and liquid crystal panel and video is projected on a screen by an erect image forming means. The mechanisms are preferably in a triangular, a trapezoidal, a polygonal, a triangularly-conic, a pyramidal, a circularly-conic, a frustum-of-cone, a semicylindrical, a hair-line, a stained shape or the like. Then the projection type liquid crystal display device which constitutes a large-size projection device comprises a nearly parallel light irradiation means 41, a liquid crystal panel which has a driver IC or the like arranged at the periphery of a liquid crystal pixel part in a frame shape and convex lens arrays (1st lens array), convex lens arrays (2nd lens array), a Fresnel concave lens and a screen which are used as the erect image forming means.
