PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To match a field of coded data in the case of editing the coded data in terms of streams. SOLUTION: A video compression code stream is fed to a temporal reference detection section 11, a TFF flag detection section 12 and an RFF flag detection section 13, by which a temporal reference, a TFF flag and an RFF flag are detected. A TFF/RFF sequence conversion section 14 rearranges the TFF and RFF flags in the order of display. A display pattern generating section 17 outputs indication denoting a field pattern on the basis of the TFF and RFF flags and displays it on a screen together with an image. Thus, an operator can easily recognize the field pattern.
