PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing device for a hydraulic cylinder which is capable of increasing a stroke length of a rod while maintaining a cylinder length. SOLUTION: In a rod seal of a power cylinder 9, a rubber seal main body 22 is reinforced by a metal core 23. The seal main body 22 has, at an outer peripheral portion 26 thereof, a taper-like run off portion 29 for ensuring a gap S in association with an inner peripheral surface 9b of the cylinder 9a, and pressure-fitted in the inner peripheral surface 9b of the cylinder 9a at the remaining portion 9b thereof. The rod seal can be located in the vicinity of a port 18, and rack teeth 2a are entered into an innermost (X side) of the cylinder 9a. A rip portion 24 disposed at an inner peripheral portion 25 of the rod seal is located inward in the radial direction, and the rack teeth 2a can enter into the innermost of the cylinder 9a. |
