PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new ester hydrolytic enzyme which is an enzyme hydrolyzing oleyl benzoate and p-nitrophenyl benzoate, contains a specific amino acid sequence, enables to hydrolyze a bulky substrate and is useful in the production or the like of a medicinal intermediate raw material. SOLUTION: This ester hydrolytic enzyme is a new ester hydrolytic enzyme, which is an enzyme hydrolyzing oleyl benzoate and p-nitrophenyl benzoate and contains the amino acid sequence represented by the formula, and is useful in the hydrolysis of a bulky substrate and the production or the like of an optically active substance necessitated as a medicinal intermediate raw material. This ester hydrolytic enzyme is obtained by cultivating a soil or water sample gathered in Oosaka prefecture in a culture medium, cultivating the resultant strain in a culture medium containing oleyl benzoate, selecting a strain forming a clear zone produced by the hydrolysis of oleyl benzoate, cultivating this strain in a culture medium containing p-nitrophenyl benzoate and screening out by the property of hydrolyzing p-nitrophenyl benzoate. The resultant strain is identified to be Acinetobacter calcoaceticus. |
