PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To airtightly keep an actuation chamber and a driver chamber to attain the higher reliability and longer service life of a device by arranging a tongue piece chamber, so as to be regularly dipped in a liquid material to partition the actuation chamber and the drive chamber. SOLUTION: In a two-piston type stirling refrigerator as gas compressor expander, and airtight holding mechanism is formed of a bottomed cylindrical tongue piece chamber 101 integrally fixed to a compressor piston rod 58, and a housing vessel 103 mounted on the inner wall of a compression cylinder 52, so as to enclose the compression piston rod 58 and containing a liquid material 102 such as fluorine oil. The tongue piece chamber 101 is arranged so that the opening end is inserted into the housing vessel 103 and regularly dipped in the liquid material 102 at all times. According to this, the moisture or stream or impurities in a drive chamber can be surely prevented from penetrating into an actuation chamber over a long period, and the higher reliability and longer service life of the device can be attained.
