PRODUCTION OF POLYSULFIDE BY ELECTROLYTIC OXIDATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cooking liqueur containing polysulfide in a high concentration at high selectivity with small consumption of power by remarkably decreasing the by-production of thiosulfate ion. SOLUTION: In a producing method of polysulfide for obtaining polysulfide ion by introducing a sulfide ion containing solution in an anode chamber of an electrolytic cell having the anode chamber, in which a porous anode is arranged, a cathode chamber, in which a cathode is arranged, and a diaphragm for dividing the anode chamber and the cathode chamber from each other, the pressure in the cathode chamber side is controlled to be higher than that in the anode chamber side. The porous anode preferably has a physically continuous three-dimensional mesh like structure.
