PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively raise a pressure of a thermal head against a recording medium and to suppress a sliding resistance of the recording medium, thereby forming a good printed image without a white stripe by stably transporting the recording medium. SOLUTION: There is disclosed a thermal head wherein a glaze layer 2 having a base layer section 2a and a projection section 2b is formed on a substrate 1, multiple heating resistors are arranged to be adhered on the projection section 2b, a pair of power supplying wiring patterns 4, 5 are connected to both ends of each heating resister and the above components are covered with a protection film 6. The tip of one supplying wiring pattern 5 is extended to a portion in the vicinity of the side face of the projection section 2b at the upstream side in the transporting direction and the tip of the other power supplying wiring pattern 4 is provided to be away from the side face of the projection section 2b at the downstream side in the transporting direction 2b. As a result, a groove 6a close to the projection section 2b is formed on the surface of the protection film 6 at the downstream side of the projection section 2b in the transporting direction of the recording medium.
