PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save the space in the widthwise direction of an ink jet recorder by turning the function as a carrying guide, a concealing means for preventing clogging and means for recovering clogging with respect to the axis in the main scanning direction of a facing member and switching them sequentially. SOLUTION: Upon delivery of a print signal, a recording head 104 is retracted from a facing member 101 which is then turned and switched to a position of recovery operation. The recording head 104 is rotationally urged to the facing member 101 to press the ejection opening against a seal part 114 on an elastic body 113 in order to suck out ink, dust, and the like, by means of a suction pump 118. Upon finishing the operation, the recording head 104 is retracted from the facing member 101 which is then turned and switched to a position of carrying guide. Upon finishing the initial operation, a desired print operation is started. Upon finishing the printing, the facing member 101 is turned and switched to the position of capping operation. The ejection opening is pressed again against an elastic body 102 to recover a state where the ejection opening is concealed. |
