<p>Parent patent describes a non-skid surfacing treatment for roads comprising natural or synthetic gravel set into a base matl and covered on the road side with a reinforcing layer, the base matl and/or the reinforcing layer contg. a vinyl resin and/or an epoxy resin and/or a polyurethane resin, the reinforcing layer being flat, soundproof and water tight. This addn. provides similar surfaces in which the gravel chips are coated with an adhesive film, e.g. of pitch, a thermoplastic adhesive, a vinyl size, a phenolic adhesive, or an acrylic adhesive. The resulting road surface is more resistant to the dislodgement of the gravel from the surface by vehicle tyres, and is thus more wear-resistant and retentive of the anti-skid props.</p> |
