PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a motor having a speed reducer which can be assemblable efficiently by reducing the number of split surface fastening means. SOLUTION: In this motor with a speed reducer, a speed reducer case for housing the reduction gear mechanism of a speed reducer for reducing the rotation output of a motor body is divided into two as a pair of split cases. In the split surface of one split case, a packing setting groove for setting a circular packing 20 is set up making a full circle. The split surface of the pair of split cases are sealed by compressing the packing 20 set in the packing setting groove by fastening with a plurality of split surface fastening means. The shape of the cross section of the substance as a packing 20 is composed of a trapezoid shaped portion 20a in a trapezoid shape located on the side of fitted into the packing setting groove, and a square-shaped portion 20b of substantially a square shape on its opposite side. In this square portion 20b, a deformation escaping vacant part 20c is formed.
