PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To register a display position after scrolling corresponding to a retrieved index word in the case of scrolling and viewing the contents of a head retrieved index word. SOLUTION: When a 'dictionary retrieval state' is set by an 'English- Japanese' key 2b, an optional index word [able] is inputted on the liquid crystal display part 3 of a character input key 2a and a 'translation/decision' key 2d is operated, dictionary contents corresponding to the input index word are retrieved from a dictionary data base and displayed as 'able...DEKIRU'. When a specified time elapses, the retrieved and displayed index word [able] and the index row number on the dictionary data base of the dictionary contents are registered in a history registration memory. Then, in the case that the retrieved and displayed dictionary contents 'able...DEKIRU' are scrolled and the different dictionary contents '(2)YUUNOUNA...NOTTE' are displayed by the operation of a cursor key '↓' 2f, after the lapse of the specified time, the index word corresponding to the dictionary contents after the scrolling and the index row number of the contents are registered in the registration memory. |
