PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a process cartridge which prevents soiling of a discharge wire without addition of a special cleaning to an electrifier by electrically connecting a piezoelectric transformer supported so as to transmit mechanical vibration to a discharge wire and connected to one end of the discharge wire. SOLUTION: An AC high voltage obtained from a piezoelectric transformer T1 is directly applied to a discharge wire 21, thereby positive charge and negative charge are alternately generated around the discharge wire 21 and nearby electrified objects are discharged. The electrifier 8 applies charges to a photoreceptor so as to make its surface potential reach a specific value. An output end at which the mechanical displacement of the piezoelectric transformer T1 becomes maximum and the discharge wire 21 are directly connected by a conductive adhesive 22, therefore the discharge wire 21 vibrates by receiving the vibration of the piezoelectric transformer 1. Resin cases 16 and 18 are provided with notches 16a and 18a so that the discharge wire 21 does not contact them. Also, by making a hole in the output end of the piezoelectric transformer T1, it may be used as a connecting part.
