PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image input device for selecting and transmitting characteristic information suited to an image processor, preventing the waste of image communication and improving the efficiency of image quality correction. SOLUTION: This image input device for input-processing original or image data and transmitting the processed image data and the characteristic information for indicating the characteristics of an input processing to the image processor of the next stage is provided with an image input part 1 for input-processing the original or image data, a profile storage part 2 for storing the plural pieces of the characteristic information relating to the image input part 1, a profile selection part 3 for selecting one piece of the characteristic information from the plural pieces of the characteristic information stored in the profile storage part 2 and a transmission part 4 for transmitting the image data processed in the image input part 1 and the characteristic information selected by the profile selection part 3.
