PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To input image information of a body to a system by selecting image data, having a feature quantity similar to the feature quantity of a feature quantity extracting means, from a database and displaying the selected image data. SOLUTION: A video display means 11 displays video inputted from a video camera 17 on the screen of a user's terminal and the user 18 directs the video camera 17 to a subject 19 to be used for retrieval and confirms an image of the subject 19 on the screen. The user once confirming it performs image selecting operation and when an image information selecting means 12 detects the operation having been done, an image held by a video display means 11 is read out and sent to the feature quantity extracting means 13. The feature quantity extracting means 13 extracts a feature quantity from the image, an image data selecting means 14 selects image data having a feature quantity similar to the feature quantity from the database 16, and an image data display means 15 displays the data.
