PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely position even a minute lens when a lens is measured by interference. SOLUTION: This retaining mechanism retains a lens 11 in order to measure the form of a spherical surface 11a of a lens 11 with an interferometer, and equipped with a lens backing member 12 which abuts against the spherical surface 11a of the lens 11 positions the lens, a guide member 13 which guides the lens backing member 12 to make it abut against the lens 11, and a pressing means 14 which pushes the lens 11 against the lens backing member 12.
