PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a silver halide emulsion having high sensitivity, high contrast and improved development stability and a silver halide photographic sensitive material using the silver halide emulsion. SOLUTION: In the silver halide emulsion, normal silver halide grains having >=10 dislocation lines 1 and <=30% coefficient of variation in the number of dislocation lines among the grains occupy >=50% of the number of all grains. In the silver halide emulsion, normal silver halide grains having >=10 dislocation lines 1 and the relation of I1<I2 between the average silver iodide content (I1) of the inside and the average silver iodide content (I2) of the outside including the dislocation line region preferably occupy >=50% of the number of all grains. The silver halide photographic sensitive material has at least one layer containing the photosensitive silver halide.
