The invention concerns a method for casting thin ferritic stainless steel strips less than 10 mm thick directly from liquid metal between twin cooled rotating rolls with parallel horizontal axes. The invention is characterised in that: said ferritic stainless steel contains (in weight percentages) 11 to 18 % of chromium, less than 1 % of manganese, less than 1 % of silicon, less than 2.5 % of molybdenum; said ferritic stainless steel having carbon and nitrogen contents whereof the total does not exceed 0.05 %; said ferritic stainless steel contains at least one of the stabilising elements among titanium, niobium, zirconium, aluminium, and the total of their contents ranging between 0.05 and 1 %; the other elements present are iron and the usual impurities resulting from the process. The invention also concerns the strips obtainable by said method. |
