PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve comfortableness by upward hot air heating in a hot air heater designed to perform a heating by upward or downward blowing hot air. SOLUTION: This apparatus is provided with an upper suction port 9A and a downward hot air blowoff port 10 only to be opened in the downward hot air heating operation, a blower 6 to deliver air sucked from the upper suction port from the hot air blowoff port, a downward hot air heating comprising a heat exchanger 5 for turning air to hot air, a lower suction port 9B, an upward hot air blowoff port 14 and an upward cool air blowoff port 15 only to be opened during the upward hot air heating operation, a blower 6 to deliver air sucked from the lower suction port from the hot air blowoff port and the cool air blowoff port and an upward hot air heating comprising the heat exchanger 5 to turn air to be sent to the hot air blowoff port to hot air. This can reduce a vertical temperature difference of a room by controlling the upward and downward hot air heating while enabling obtaining of a comfortable dwelling space without a sort of air flow.
