PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method that can form barrier ribs of a plasma display panel(PDP) with high accuracy, is suitable for enhancing the precision of the PDP and to increase the size thereof, allows a manufacturing device to be miniaturized and reduced in scale, and can improve the yield thereof without material loss, and reduce a manufacturing cost. SOLUTION: An unset barrier rib forming material layer 50 having flexibility is formed on a glass substrate 14, and projections 96 of the barrier rib forming material which corresponds to the barrier ribs are formed by pressing/rolling a roller having grooves corresponding to the barrier ribs formed against/on the barrier rib forming material layer 50. The projections are dried and baked. A black antireflection layer 94a can be formed simultaneously with the formation of the barrier ribs, by superposing a black rib forming material layer on the barrier rib forming material layer and by pressing and rolling the roller.
