PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical isolator which can be easily produced with high yield without deposition of an org. adhesive between optical devices and which can be made smaller in size. SOLUTION: This optical isolator consists of the combination of total four optical devices which are two polarizers 1, one 45 deg. Faraday rotator 2 disposed between the polarizers, and a polarization dispersion compensator plate 7 to compensate polarization dispersion by the polarizer 1 and which are arranged and fixed between mount substrates 4 facing each other with an epoxy resin adhesive 9 as an org. adhesive. In specified positions of the substrate 4, plural grooves 4a are formed so as to pour the adhesive 9 when each optical device is to be fixed with the adhesive 9. The substrate 4 itself consists of a permanent magnet 3 of a ferrite magnet, and as a whole, the isolator is made small in size. The grooves 4a are formed as recesses in the specified positions where the respective optical devices are disposed on the substrate so as to house the end part of the respective optical devices.
