An electrical alarm indicator has an acoustic or visual indicator showing if the leaf or handle is operated or if the leaf is not closed. A microprocessor controls the alarm indicator based on the sensor signals. A key switch switches on or off or controls the functions of the alarm indicator (7) and or an electric door leaf locking device. An indicator shows the current state of the door or window using an LED display. The alarm indicator and/or the microprocessor, and/or the state indicator and/or the locking device are fixed to the leaf of the door or window, e.g. on the door handle or door plate. The microprocessor may be connected to a central control and monitoring device via a bus-line or building wiring system.
