<p>A plant control system for an industrial plant comprises a plurality of entities, each made up of a number of devices. The control system includes a number of programs each consisting of a plurality of steps, with each step defining (i) a set of entities and associated devices to be actuated and/or sensed, (ii) a condition on which the step terminates and optionally (iii) failure conditions. The system also includes entity status means for recording the statuses of the entities as they change with successive program steps, and means for detecting inconsistencies between the entity statuses as recorded in the entity status means and the operation which the current program step is to perform on the entities. <Figure 2></p> |
