PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve wood working property and working quality and to relax necessary skill and technique in a lathe for wood working wherein a fitting part for a log is provided on the end part of an operating shaft of a transversely placed rotating shaft, and revolving cutting is performed by bringing the edge of a working tool held by hands into contact with the log fitted on the fitting part for the log. SOLUTION: A lathe 1 for wood working has a structure with both heads wherein one end of a common operating shaft 4 is an inserting nail type fitting part 3B for a log and another end is a chuck nail type fitting part 3A for the log and an operating part 2 transversely supporting an operating shaft 4 is made to be rotatably set to a cylindrical leg frame 8 and a working table 9 made of a steel sheet is provided below the fitting parts 3A and 3B for the log and in addition, a tool holding tool 11 for a working tool having a base part 15 with a magnet body 16 fixed by magnetic attraction and whose attraction is freely released by releasing of magnetism on the top face of the working table 9, is provided.
